[ARCHIVED] The Red Cross is sending a Damage Assessment Team down to begin assessing, this Tuesday (10/3)

The Red Cross is sending a Damage Assessment Team down to begin assessing, this Tuesday (10/3) and Wednesday (10/4), the affected areas from the storms that occurred on 9/29 and 9/30. They will be setting up a mobile booth on Friday (10/6) in Belen, specific location still TBD, and they will accept walk-ins to help them with assessments and what services they can help with.

They are also reaching out to the local VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters) to see which community organizations can help us out as well. Community organizations are allowed to do much more than us and that is why we have the relationships with them.

If you need assistance please call Red Cross at 505-265-8514.

Unfortunately, due to the state statute for anti-donation, we cannot just help or fix private property, including roads. We know it seems harsh, but those are the rules and to protect ourselves, as a County, we must follow these rules.

We have posted on Facebook and Twitter and will update contact info for the Red Cross and once we have a location for their booth we will share that information as well. Like us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/ValenciaCountyOEM and/or Follow us on Twitter @ValenciaCoEM
